SoCNoC, great for the economy.

I am one who likes to reward myself for getting certain amounts of words written. Normally it’s something small every 10K written.
This time around I was just going to buy one big thing at the end and my weekly reward would just be my Starbucks Mocha frappuccino Lite drink that I can buy in a pack of 4. Cheap and something that just screams- writing month to me.

Enter in the online radio station, for whatever reason it seems to think that switching from Enya to Billy Joel is in the same genre or style of music. Hrmm annoys me a lot, breaks my thought pattern and has me scrambling to click –don’t like it.
Each time this happens I get this huge urge to just go and buy ALL the music I like, then put it on my computer and listen to it randomly.
I had been fighting this urge until Thursday, then I gave in and bought one new album, but it’s not going to arrive until the 28th.  Why I did not just download it from iTunes I have yet to work out.

In this purchase I also bought my winners prize, I have not won yet and well I blame lack of sleep on my bad judgment. I now need to complete the challenge or else my husband has informed me that he will send the prize back.
I then looked back at my past years spending habits. It is not good; I seem to buy a lot more items during the month of June. More music, more movies, more snacks and more coffee drinks.
If coffee houses found out about me then I am sure I would be sent many coupons to buy extra things, and knowing my lack of impulse control during the month of June, I would go and use them.

A local bookstore sent me a coupon for 40% off one time; I do not need any new books. I have around 20 unread books on a shelf that I wanted to read before getting anything new. But it’s June, so off I went during my lunch hour at work, bad traffic abound and found a book that I wanted and justified it by telling myself husband would wish to read it also.  That is true and he does not have any books to read at present, I do slightly recall him telling me he was doing other things and did not need a new book.
Next week, I will be solely on a cash only scheme, this way once it is gone I will not be over spending or over buying random things I do not really need.
I have to ignore all the nifty writing items in the Levenger catalog they so kindly sent me, those pens make me drool and the circa note pad system just calls to me.

So I ask you, how much have you bought this month in extras?
Next year I will set aside a certain amount, set up a wish list and get Hubby to put in the purchases for my prizes when I earn them. That way extra things can not appear in my shopping cart.
