I was crazy enough to enter the julnowrimo 50,000 word challenge for month of July. I'm at 15,000 at present, I seemed to have covered a lot of ground already. Basing it on a trip to UK I did. Thought it would be easy using diary notes, and telling it as an adventure story. Still a long way to go! I may have to have this married woman, that is travelling on her own, have a long winded affair or something. Perhaps he could take her to Europe. Then I have to convince my husband that, that part didn't really happen. :)

Yeah, we noticed you'd signed up for that along with a few others who were here during SoCNoC.

Good luck though, it certainly is an achievement to do one novel in a month, let alone two in two months!

That's great, gaye! Being at 15K is a great achievement this far into the month. That's 65K since the beginning of July! For your first venture into writing you are doing an amazing job. Keep it up! :)

Thanks kerry, I'm at 18,1850 tonight, and I didn't start until the first week in. it's good practice I suppose, and it will be a good coalition of turning my tidbit diary of my trip into something worth reading, instead of a scrappy note book. My husband had a whoopsie on the ice, and is using my car, so I'm confined at home, which helps the writing process.

Oh gaye, I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I hope he gets better soon. My fiance is hobbling after playing indoor soccer for the first time in a loooong time. :)

Another 3,000 words is very nice. Can't you just feel that 20K teasing you!

Keep us posted on your progress!

gaye-belle,

Remember all the different ideas from SoCNoC.

1. Start a fight
2. Have a sex scene
3. Bring in a character/object names Max.

That will solve your word count problems. :)

I am ahead of schedule, 35,000, not enjoying this one as much as SocNoc. This site is more friendly. :)
This effort is a bit of a travel-log, based on true experience, but able to create a story with it. Heading over to the Isle of Man, and this bit will be fanciful, so I can get the immagination going. Looking forward to the Zing Thing with you guys. :)

Glad things are going well with you for this months writing venture! Do you think its easier or harder drawing from true experience?

Probably as a beginner, cassie, life experiences are easier to draw on. I'm a bit nervous at this stage trying make believe as I'm concerned I may be copying something I've read. Even my SocNoc story has shades of Crosstitch, going back to another era.
Being a type that has a go at things, and not too much into conforming with what is expected, I've been presented with some challenging experiences with life, and other people.
Kerry, I wanted to travel, but my husband didn't, yet his great wish was to go to the Isle of Man for the motorcyle TT (his passion.)
So I had three jobs on the go, he helped with my fare, and I went by myself. Did the tour thing, being a newcomer to travelling, around Britain, and sectetly booked a passage to the Isle of Man for TT week. When I landed on the Island rang him to gloat. The intention was to motivate him. 21 years later he still hasn't got there, it's just a dream to him. That's the difference he dreams, I do it!
So the story involves travelling on her own, with a group, but she misses being with her man to see things together, as most people travelling are couples. I'm heading to the Isle of Man now in the story. The woman meets this man over there, and they have a great time, like a mad affair, his name is never mentioned, at the end it is revealed it is her bloke who decided work isn't everything in life, and flys over to be with her. :)

Aaaaaahhhh! Finished the word quota, at 51,957, but haven't finshed the story. I thought this would be an easy venture, taking snippets from a diary, but I found I had left a lot out and had to stir the grey matter around for memory intake. Was nice reliving the trip, but in reality, confined inside due to the weather and lack of transport.:)

Thanks cassie, but couldn't have done it this time last year. Like you I was a student, and had soooo many assignments, both written and physical.
Learning lines, written by others for plays is much harder than writing your own stories. :)
