I wasn't sure how to sum my story up, as I know things will change as I go along.
So I've come up with:-
"Can Rebecca convince Jeff to take up the challenge?"

Am I sort of on the right track kerryn?

I initially thought mine was double barreled, but then realised that the first part is a given - its what both the protagonist and the antagonist want. Which leaves me with this:

Will Ayden and Falen be able to prevent the demons from returning to full power within the world?

Man, just reading these central questions makes me want to read all your novels. So you all better finish your nanos or else :P :P :P

Not sure I can sum mine up yet and I certainly don't have a character name yet. But here goes...

Will Umlaut defeat organised society and return to his natural habitat where the frogs burp and the trees whistle.

(Now I'm thinking that I actually want to name my character 'Will Umlaut'.)

My main protag and main antag seem to have a bit of tunnel vision at the moment. --;

I've made mine more specific now 'her independence' is an emotional goal. One thing I read is that readers need to know what that 'looks' like. When will they know the character has gained her independence or done anything else that we are all saying.

So, my revised question:

Will Antonia defeat Aunt Louisa, move out of the family home and pursue her dream of becoming ... while fulfilling her father's wishes?

I don't know what she dreams of becoming but I think this is much more specific. So, what will your thing 'look' like to the reader?

Gayebelle, what is the challenge? And why doesn't Jeff want to take it up?

Cassie, who is the person trying to get the demons to gain full power? This is your antagonist.

Bibliocat, who has got Luca and why? This is your antagonist.

Angeldreams, I'm waiting for your question!

Andychilton, in the Crusie Mayer workshop they say that the antagonist must be a person. Certainly there are cases where they aren't but it seems easier to write when there's one person driving that conflict. As you develop the 'organised society' you'll no doubt find who this is.

Ophelia, what are these consequences? Why does she want to survive them? This should be her goal, to get there she has to overcome these consequences. Who is your antagonist?

Jencatd, who is your antagonist? Does Vincent have to beat him to win the challenge?

the demons are the ones trying to make the come back - i don't have a name for them yet, but they can inhabit people, and control people.

Kerryn - well, basically, her family has become enemies of the Empire, so Aniss is on the kill-list. Bit of a problem, as she's at Court when they do their little screw-you to the Emperor. She'll have to escape into Faerie, and that causes a whole lot of problems of its own - especially when the human haven there has been put under a curse. Main antagonist is Silef, one of the Emperor's best people at making people dead.

Yes, I don't know why it has that movie trailer thing, but the important part is, now that I know who the real antagonist is, I already know a lot more about my story. Thanks! :-)

lol, this is going to be a fun month.

Good questions. :D My main antagonist is the president of the club, Declan. Why the name Declan popped into my head when I was creating him I'll never know. o_O The challenge he set up for Vincent is a quest he believes Vincent won't achieve with continued membership to said club riding on it.

I guess the revised question is this: "Will Vincent complete the quest laid down by Declan and get to stay in the club?"

Hmmm, jencatd, your story sounds very interesting. I'm not sure why it strikes me so, but your central question leaves me wanting to know more. What I want to know is what exactly this club is and why it is so important for Vincent to be a member of it. Best of luck to you during NaNo.
