Hi All,
I've posted a new members challenge. I know it's right in the middle of NaNoWriMo but hey, we wouldn't be doing that if we didn't like to challenge ourselves. You can see it here: Write a Story in 50 Words. Why not Accept the Challenge and good luck everyone ;-) Finally, it would be great if people posted their stories (not required) so just post them into this here thread and then we all get to read them. 11 Nov 2007 23:14:44

Groan ok Andy, you know I can't resist a challenge. Bought up with too many brothers, had to show them I could do it too! :)

Here's my 50 words. If pressed to add a title, I'd steal "The Life of Brian" :)
Brian's life ended with a screech of brakes and a sickening thump. There wasn't time for his life to flash before him, but his heart was warmed by the fact that the fortune teller had been right; he should have been careful around traffic. And then he recognised the driver. 12 Nov 2007 14:23:06 |

Good one morfran, heck 50 words doesn't look much. I had a story in my head but will have to be well edited. Or think of something else. :) Well done.

Ok then :) "The Intruder."
The high, shrill bark of the German Shepherd, and the consistant harping woof of the Huntaway Sheepdog, was evidence there was an intruder out the back. The owner, concerned that it may be a visitor, called them in. The intruder unravelled from his prickly ball and scuttled into the hedge. 12 Nov 2007 20:05:53

My story in 50 words:
Write a story she said so I did. I didnât know. I'm sorry. I knew that words had power but not such power as that. It was a joke, just a stupid joke to liven things up. I’m sorry my friend. I didn’t mean to write that you were dead. ***********The mad scientist strikes again. 12 Nov 2007 20:59:53

The world turned upside down as he swung, brisk morning air hitting his face. It made him slightly dizzy, the world moved quickly past him as his arms spun in a never ending circle. This was the way his day always started, after his person put him on her wrist.
I'm surprised I was able to do exactly 50 words :P 13 Nov 2007 03:04:41

Okay, here's mine. It is named The Dancer!
--- Pirouette, position, toe forward, back straight. She lifted her arms elegantly. She spun with precision. They would be proud of her. Roses littering the stage. She leapt, arcing, in a moment that froze. It was only when someone shoved a tenner in her garter that she remembered where she was. 18 Nov 2007 23:28:13 |

Wicked. That's a good one willocwen. Also, kyrsa, I love the bit about the air hitting his face - which I managed to latch onto upon second reading :-)
Well overall I enjoyed this challenge. Not as many participants as I'd hoped but that doesn't matter since we got a 100% success rate!!! /andy does the happy dance for no other reason than the dance itself 19 Nov 2007 00:54:51
