I'm drawing from the past when my brother wouldn't let me go fishing with him on Saturdays. One day Mum insisted he take me and we saw the most gigantic eel with tusks!!!
My story "The Enormous Evil Eel," starts off about him. 29 Feb 2008 23:11:51
Got a plot and Title for Socnoc 2008.

I like the way you base a lot of your stories on real people. I guess it means you've already got fully-formed characters.

Hrmm so does this mean we are all fodder for your stories Gaye-belle?
I have been very bad all week and have no written a thing. Not one word..LOL So I am very very anxious to start writing tonight. Plus I have three days off next week just to write and celebrate my next grey hair! I will be 31 and still no kids. I have been nose deep in shipping records, Birth records and wondering why people cannot use the same name twice! Yes family history can be trying. But at least I finally found the details of one relative who came over on a ship with 2 kids under 3 and gave birth to another on board. EWW! I have a feeling my story is going to be dealing with the history of my fantasy world.. Might even do a family tree for my characters. Hope everyone is off to a great start! 01 Mar 2008 09:38:23

Yes! managed to kick into gear and get some words down. Feeling pretty good about it. The characters are all familiar and well known and I am excited to see where the story is going to go from here. Still not sure how the fish is going to work in but I will find a way!

Well Andy being twice the age of some of you, xengab's just a baby! You come across a lot of characters in your time. In drama school I could get my characterisation down easily wheras it was difficult for the younger ones.
Just been to Weber's Circus, the theme was based on Medieval time with the usual good versus evil. Saw the bestest witch. "Witch With an Itch", With a black gown covering the head, the person standing upright, and the large green face situated on the chest. It made her look like a short witch with a hump. The huge mouth would have been operated by the hands, very effective. 01 Mar 2008 17:40:24

Ok so a really good book got in the way of me starting the challenge as planned BUT I so know how to fix one of my mystery stories YAY!
Pretty much worked out that if we can get 1k done every day then we will get the challenge won. So that is what I am off to do on my trusty um no handy dandy notebook. Thinking I will handwrite this challenge as someone at work dared me to do it that way, though I did manage to wipe the smirk off their face when I told them I could write 1k of words in an hour so can still do it at lunchtime..LOL Just a baby..LOL I am always told that by most people since nearly everyone I work with is several years older then me. Plus I look alot younger then my years. 02 Mar 2008 06:12:03

Nice to see people starting with a hiss and a roar. I am keeping a bit to what I know and am using a short story idea I jotted down months ago. See keeping a file of ideas is works. The plot starts as follows: A Wizard has just been discovered dead by the police. Another Wizard has been dispatched to assist the police in their investigations. The point is that Wizards are only permitted under their vows to use violence to defend and the dead one didnt.
That is the general theme, hence, I am not sure what sub-catagory of fantasy this comes under. There is magick (with a k which is typical of the occult) but also crime/mystery and based in real life. I have an evil plan for the story and the fish and this could evolve into a full book in the future if it works. I like the idea of 10000 words, it is good for getting the main jist of the story going. Right, I have five papers to review for work so my afternoon is filled up. Hopefully I can write more tonight. Good luck everyone for the week. Let's hope real life doesnt get in the way too often - MadScientist 02 Mar 2008 12:23:50
