A celebration of creativity.
This includes Artwork, Drama, Short Film, and Music. More interesting however is a big focus on Writing.
Readers and writers programmes at the library offers lots of literary choices to participate in.
Poetry, Creative Workshops, Collective Readings, Writing your first book, Student Writing Workshop, Writing Family History, Place and its effect (writing about your region), Writing for Children, Reader's Raves and Lunch, Southern Writers Gathering. So its a busy time in Southland next month, I'm going to be out every night! Have to fit the lunchtime ones around work where we have an exhibition for the Arts month as well.

I just picked up a flyer for this today from the library! Dunno yet if I can make any of them, I had my eye on a couple of events but we're off to Naseby/Christchurch/the glaciers from the 15th so might not be back in time. I hope you will do a full report gaye-belle, I'd be interested to know what you thought of the workshops :)

I'll probably get to Southern Writers Gathering 19th, and Writing Your First Book, with Ella West 22nd. Some are on during the day but I will have to be 'celebrating surfing' at Riverton at work.

Checked with OH about our holiday schedule and I definitely won't be back in time to attend the events :( I'd be interested to read what you thought about Ella West's workshop.

Whew, 'Readers and Writers alive! this week organised by the Invercargill City Library and Dan Davin Literary Foundation is all go this next two weeks. I went to a Southern Writers gathering last night, quite a diverse group. Oldies and youngies. We are organising a group to meet fortnightly, one for the poets and one for the story writers.

Just been to a talk by Ella West (Dunedin) just published a young adult book. Interesting talk and feedback, a lot of it I have picked up from kiwiwriters and resources placed in the site.
Mentioned kiwiwriters, and one person asked for the site name, so we may have another Southlander on board! :)
