"No not me," Brian stayed firmly in his seat, "I'm not getting off the bus to get involved in some Maori land protest. I'm a white boy!"
His girlfiend Lili who is quarter cast Maori looked at him, "Well it was your ancestors that took the land away from my ancestors," she reminded him.
"And if your ancestors hadn't intergrated with ours the Maori race would have died out!" Rebbecca bellowed out from the back seat at Lili.
"Through all your white man's diseases," Lili snapped back.
Rebecca, more contrite now, spoke quietly, "Well we can't help what our ancestors did, and neither can you. Just imagine where you'd be today, barefoot, with about five kids hanging off your grass skirt." This made her grin, and she put her arms around Lili.
Lili laughed too and held up her feet towards Rebecca, "I'm barefoot now."
Katey the pacifist added, "We wouldn't be friends if we hadn't intergrated."
"That's right," agreed Lili, "and I wouldn't have my little 'white boy' here," as she snuggled up to a sheepish looking Brian.
