Well, I'm home sick today, so I thought I'd take advantage of not having to do stuff, and get back into a story I was writing at the start of the year.
But, my character is one step ahead of me, the narrator says "She knew what she had to do," while the author is sitting here thinking, what does she need to do, and why hasn't Marie (MC) given me any hints towards what she has to do. I'm sure I knew at the time I wrote it, but since then so much has happened that the story has been lost (tear :( ). Maybe I'll just curl up in bed, that's what normal people do when they're sick isn't it? 13 Apr 2008 10:43:56

How far into the story did you leave it off? re-reading the whole thing didn't jog any memories? It's really frustrating when that happens, have had the same thing occur a few times now...
Maybe if you just push on it will come clear? Write some side notes, or something from the perspective of another character to help you build up what she might do? Or maybe just delete that bit about her knowing what she has to do and try a different angle? And yes, curling up in bed is generally what sick people do, make sure you take care of yourself :-) Good luck with figuring out where your story goes from here. 13 Apr 2008 11:18:04 |

Thanks Cassie,
I ended up deleting that sentence, then writing all her options out as she tried to pick between them, so it was her dilemma rather than mine, and in the end she chose what she would do rather than me. Then I went back to bed :). I love the support on this site, it really makes me want to keep writing. :) 14 Apr 2008 09:23:36

Glad that you managed to push through and that she found a solution which worked for the both of you - at least now you know what is going to happen! lol

Good results redfox, don't let those characters take you over. Little demons!
Sometimes when you are feeling under par, there seems to be no answers. As Cassie said side notes help with options, to get you out of a mind block. Normal people, what are they? 14 Apr 2008 12:25:46
