G'day. Another newbie here. I received details of the June challenge via another group and decided to sign up. June largely corresponds with my mid-year break from uni, so I have few excuses for not being able to write.

To date I have been more of a spec fic writer, but the target in June is more of a thriller. At least that's the idea. I have been doing the preparatory work like plot outlines and character profiles well in advance so that come June I can really rip into it.

Plus June in Canberra, Australia, is a cold, miserable place, so I may as well keep myself warm and active in front of the laptop!

Hi ausross, welcome to kiwiwriters. You sound like you are organised. I remember joining up last year on the eve of SoCNoc with no idea what I was doing, but battled through.
This year I too have a basic idea, with plot oultine, not sure of genre, drama I suppose, and instead of setting it in NZ, it will be a small English town.
Cold here in Invercargill at that time too. have fun!!!

Hey ausross. Welcome! Do you have Queens Birthday weekend in June in Aussie? The long weekend should give us NZers a good start. :)

I think challenges like SoCNoC are a great way to try something new with writing.

Welcome Ausross.
Thanks for responding to my call to arms so to speak on the google groups.

Nice to have a fellow Aussie along for the ride with all these kiwi's.

I am an aussie stuck in California and hoping one day to get back.
To celebrate the kick off of SoCNoC I will be cooking meat pies and pavlova :)

Pam

My idea of hell is being trapped in a room with no books!
