This is for everyone like me that is just slowly but surely getting their Novella done.
I did another 5-600 words today during my lunch, just need to type it up to see what the word count is.
Plus for some reason this part of the story is making my shoulder ache..LOL more like I keep leaning on it wrong and straining it. So once again I am injured and trying write..hehe.

Everyone else enjoying their stories?
I am loving my characters that feel very well formed in my head now, not bad for something I have been trying to write for two years.

Heh, I keep telling myself I'm writing pulp genre, it's allowed to be straight forward and heavy on action. I guess I'm sorta enjoying it. Rather looking forward to it being done though! It makes me wonder at the reason behind things, seems I only seem to be scratching at the surface of the story ...

I've done my usual trick. Got "what now' bound, for a start.
I told a young friend (21) about my computer nerd fellow, and his virtual world, imagining he was killing people, by creating games of scenarios he'd been in. He suggested having him actually doing the crimes, creating a bomb and blowing himself up just as the police were about to arrest him.

That however wasn't my style, I tend to write human interest stories, wheras a young feller like him like blood and guts. ):
So I have turned it around, Nigel is a good bloke at heart, bullied, and lonely, once he found a girl and fell in love, life changed for him and so did my story.
He made the games with a fatal ending, but in real life he never did them. He just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.
For instance a guy fell off a yacht at a dinner party, he was drunk, Nigel was the last to see him before he dissapeared. The Detective had already questioned him about a fight in a pub, but he had gone, before the fight started, and so on.
Unfortunately the police check out his computer finding these scenarios quite different to how he portrayed his prescence at the scene.
What happens at the end I do not know, happy ending, or Nigel wrongfully ending up in jail.

Yep have it sussed. Big court case, his defence proves he didn't do any of it. He's innocent!
So that will cover the next 4,000 odd words.
Not doing any writing today, its hot, hot, been in the garden (shady area) came in for a drink and a chat.

I'm slithering along. Got in all of hrmm 6mins of writing just now before deciding I just HAD to check the forums, and sneezed and split my lip alittle *snickers* I think I got about 70 words written in that time.
I am having issues though, stupid issues that should not even be thought of.
OK, I do not wish to spoil the ending for myself. How dumb is that. I KNOW how it is going to end (snorts)but I refrain from thinking beyond the words I am writing at the time. My time line I was going to draw up, well it ends at where I am up too, its not helping me!
Plus I totally like the male character in the story. I hate having him be so rigid at the start and not having him be gentle with the MFC. It kills me to see him like that..LMAO. I know its all for a reason but it just sucks and it really is stupid to be like it.
Plus I know the poor male is going to be hurt in a few chapters and be near death. *cries* I usually have no issues with having characters go through diffcult situation or killing them off. not sure why this one is different.
I should get more writing done when I get home from work if I can lock the cats and hubby out of the bedroom.

Good luck! Hopefully they will give you a little peace so you can get something done.
Can you think of anything you could do that would make you want to write more on the story?
I often never know exactly how things are going to turn out at the ending and I like that, keeps my options open and whatever happens happens. Like the Novella - there were 3 possible endings (well, lots more, but three i was seriously considering), as I got closer and closer though it became apparent that there really was only one option. (Or as maui-potiki likes to quote back at me 'it became increasingly clear that everyone had to die.' or something along those lines).

Yeah my poor Nigel is not going to be bullied any more. (Always had a soft spot for the underdog.)
They're not going to pin all this stuff on him.
The cops have taken him and his computer to the police station, the girlfriend is confused, but they're gonna live happily ever after, eventually. :)

Yes, a good start for the new year cassie.
I haven't done any writing tonight, been a couple of short power cuts, not willing to take the risk, as still bad and don't save until I have finished a page.
Computer packed a sad, and wouldn't send an email, then the firewall security has gome off, so giving up and going to bed for a read. :)

Guess us snails are going to need to get a slither on if we are going to make it over the finish line without being picked off by a bird.
I spent most of my weekend reading stephen king"s Duma Key and I finally typed up my last weeks effort. I went and saw a movie called Cloverfield and got motion sickness so bad I was feeling ill the rest of the day! grrr
Today I plan to start my 2k word writing again.
So any other snails with me in getting this done?

Keep slitherin girl. You've been making good pace today. :)
Is that Stephen King's latest book, any good? Just finished an old unread one I found, called "Desperation."
I've gone back to my film script, a half hour TV play, allowing for two ad breaks, takes a bit of conversation, with little movement, to do in 26 mins.

Duma Key is the lastest one out, I giggled like a school girl when I got it. Interesting read and more mystery/suspense then horror or thriller but I have been enjoying it alot.
I got more written during lunch today and will get more done tonight. I worked out that if I write 1.4K a day then I will finish on time.
I finally worked out why I am writing slowly, each time I get to a part of the story that is important I keep thinking over how this will impact the rest of the plot. Its a good thing I am told but doesnt help with the snail writing speed.
I've been reading bits out to hubby and so far he has liked it (rather then the first version of this story where I killed off the MFC and he cried.).
Gaye Belle
Wow I am thinking of doing the script frenzy this year, but the whole idea of a script just freaks my poor little mind out. I have the software just not the plot. What is yours about?

I haven't software for scriptwriting Just using the guide from script frenzy site for stage settings etc.
Umm my script story is a bit close to home really. Set at a dining table, with copious cups of tea in the middle of the night. It will be called "When I'm sixty-four," with the beatles song of the same name in the background.

It's about an older couple discussing what is left in life. While he is satisfied with the status quo, she is frustrated and wants to do more. For e.g. she's never bungy jumped, water skiied, snow boarded, ride in a helicopter.(she's 64.) Has done a lot of things though, compared to most women her age, but not ready to settle down with scrapbooking and cross stitching. "That can wait until I'm old!"
He says she can do what ever she likes so long as he has clean undies and there's a meal on the table.
When he asked what would she do if he died. She promptly returns, "Oh that's easy buy a gypsy caravan and travel to all the little areas in NZ I've never been to."
In the end he admits he always wanted to buy a Harley (motor bike) and travel around the world. "I know," she says, "but you never will."
He thinks about it and says, "you're not too old to swing your leg over the back and come with me?"
Oh I wish!!!!!

gaye-belle sounds interesting and really could be me in several years>>LOL

I had quite a good weekend and only have around 4k to go so I am going to try and get it done today/tonight.
I really surprised myself with the amount I wrote yesterday, it finally came together and then I got stuck, do I want chemistry or alchemy..LOL I am going with alchemy.
I was raining like nothing else, cold and windy, so I used that time to write.
Plus when I was done I read this funny book about a librarian who works in Los Angeles and half the people mentioned in the book reminded me of my own library co workers..LMAO.
So I am still on track to get this challenge done.
SNAILS WILL WIN!

The xengab snail is on the trail to be a winner.
Been watching your progress.
The weather relates to my writing too. Rather be out in the sun.
Our librarians here are great folk, helpful, and the town is small enough for them to know us, and what our tastes in books are.

I am trying to get it done but lastnight I had a bagel craving and once that was over I just watched tv..LOL
Just need to do alittle extra today to make up for it. should be ok though.

Some libraries are just great places to be, I would just love to be able to go and sit and write in my library but as yet that is not the way. I always end up helping some patron or getting asked questions so I just head to my desk in the other building and write their. (or here since that is where I am atm).
