NO more Discworld novels until this challenge is done!
I was writing a very serious part of the story yesterday, very intense. Then out of nowhere, the sacred stones want to turn around and say "Look! We're trying to help but you're all moan moan moan _ I can't do this and I can't do that. We're very busy and you're not helping!
I can't help but wonder if I'm in the wrong neighbourhood with fantasy ...

For the purposes of this story ... I'd either have to scrap what I've done and start over, or stick it out for the next two weeks and then move on to something else. I'm a serial starter and a crap finisher, so I'm trying for door number two.

Good on you :-)
I used to be tragic at finishing things as well, the more you work at it the easier it becomes. So keep at it!

You do have a sense of humour, Maree, use it!
Think of the reason these stones are in a bad mood. Maybe they are female and it is 'that' time of the month.
Or there's a full moon and strange things are going on causing them to be busy.
Its so easy to try and hold your characters back at the beginning, once I have learned to let them go, all hell breaks loose. :)

Thanks gaye-belle :)

The trouble is I have 3000 words of Very Serious and Portentous stuff.
I could fling it out the window, but I really need to try and persist, so I can say I finished! Of course, now, every time I try and write, there's this voice at the back of my head, making fun of me ....

I see what you mean. I tend to go for lightish stuff when doing a challenge.
Do a fun one, that's what your head is trying to tell you. :)

As you are limited with time, why not work on this serious one for the 'year to publish challenge'?

That's an idea. Actually, what I might do, is finish this challenge, then work on something funny for the year to publish one ... hmmm ... food for thought ... *tasty*
