The Snowflake Method

I don't remember how I stumbled upon this article (found it randomly in my bookmarks), but this one has a method of preparing a novel that goes from describing your novel idea in a sentence to having your characters and scenes sorted by the time you've gone through the steps.

I'm planning to try this method and see if sorting out my NaNo is easier this way. Even if I don't get through all of the steps by November I'll have enough to work from. ^^

I've heard of the Snowflake method a lot, most recently through the Get Your Novel On video over at NaNoWriMo Viddler group but have never tried it myself.

I've only ever heard good things. Let us know how it goes!

Great! I'm using the Snowflake Method, too.

Currently I'm on Step 3, so I'm basically spending my one day off to get most of my characters sketched.

I guess I could just take it to the laundry-mat with me!

I finished Step 3 last night, and the Snowflake seems to speed up completing some of the weekly prep challenges for Nano. After Step Three I think I have the 4 things to complete the "anchor it" challenge (main protag, main antag, goals, and conflicts). :)

It definately will speed up the prep challenges, Jen. I do caution you to pace yourself through November though. I prepped early October last year, finished my prep in mid October and come November 1st had lost the familiarity with the idea.

*nods* That's why I'm leaving the Nanoite challenge until after I complete the snowflake. That way there'll still be something to do before November. :)
