My experience so far.

So it seems that 2nd person is hard to read and I'm feeling, at the moment, it's a little hard to write.

The problem is, I think all choose your own adventure books are in 2nd person so that when you have to choose what to do, it feels like you're choosing for yourself!

So I'm writing it in 2nd person...lucky me.

I think I'm using you this and you that a lot. Therefore, my plan (from now on) is to start sentences with something else. I always remember this from school about starting sentences with I and it gets very repetitive really quickly. Usually I know this, can feel it and correct it but because I've not had experience when writing you I need to pull myself out of the habit.

Certainly re-reading helps - I know, I should ignore my internal editor - but a lot of it will be written out, written over or pulled in the edit.

Yes, I said edit, I shall edit this one! :-)

2nd person I unusual, I agree. Still, choose your own is the only media (outside of instruction manuals) where it makes any sense at all.

The internal editor has been kicking my ass this weekend, and I've gone over the story a few times and changed things.

I think it's made it better, but that's what editing is for - later!

I think it's easy to get out of practice, and just let the editor run loose. It seems quite difficult.

I think planning (or lack there of) has something to do with it.

I did notice that my writing here is a lot quicker than my actual challenge! Bummer.

I'll be interested to see how you go Andy. I haven't written anything in 2nd person before. I hope we get a snippet or to read the whole thing once you're done. I will hold you to your editing promise.

Agreed - I can't wait to give it a go. Do you have any dice rolling or anything like that? I've played a few like that during the whole 80's D&D period - pretty fun, but you can so die easily through no fault of your own. It's very satisfying to win one though.

To answer the questions:

* Kerryn, I'll be posting the entire thing so I'll put a link here for all to read

* Travis, no dice rolling, you get to make all your decisions yourself

* I won't say much more than that for the moment :-)
