The Social Side of Writing
Posted by: andychilton
Today I went to the third SoCNoC Write-In in Wellington this month and again, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
To me, writing isn't a lonely pasttime anymore, it's a very active and social one. In the past, meeting up with other writers would be the main way to stay in contact with people with similar interests, but the internet has changed all of that.
Not only do we now have websites with forums but we also have chatrooms and other things like Twitter.
So these days, you can keep in contact with so many people, sometimes it is scary just how many people you do. And for me, writing isn't just about getting those words on paper but enjoying meeting up with like-minded people.
June is a busy month but make sure you're not just stuck in front of that keyboard, make an effort to go to a Write-In in your area. And if there isn't one, make one yourself and invite others!

Too true Andy, having just formed a writers gathering in Invers, it's great having a group, discussing different styles of writing, with a mixed age group, from a schoolgirl, young mum's, business people to oldies like me. :)
