Well Deserved Distraction
Posted by: kerrynangell
Instead of writing about… well, writing… I thought I’d give everyone something a bit different to read and enjoy amongst the sprint to the finish line.
Between 10 minutes word wars I’ve allowed myself 5-10 minutes (still using the timer) of Stumble Time. Stumble Time is when I browse the internet using the most wonderful tool of procrastination: Stumble Upon. Most of the categories I like to stumble through are creative and inspire ideas so it’s all good for feeding the imagination. What also works as good to keep the most productive during word war times is to get away from the computer by walking around the block, or the house, do a quick piece of housework, visit your family who no doubt miss you by now, making it clear you will be back in another 10 minutes. All of these things gives your conscious mind a break from the story and allows your subconscious mind to work it’s magic.
For your distracting pleasure, I give you:
Boost Your Creativity! 5 suggestions…
Overcome writer’s block with writing toys
Enjoy!

You know, in all my time, I still haven't used Stimble Upon. I'm gonna have to check it out.
It's amazing how much there is out there in the Internet to help us waste time.

My insirations seem to come to me when driving the car from out of town to the city, and home. When pursuing drama, learning my lines for a play, I could recite them easily, until the actual performance, then poof! all gone. Doesn't say much for my concentration as a driver on the road. :)
