The Countdown Begins
It’s all about writing a whole lot of words in a short period of time. It’s all about fun.
The Survival of the Human Race was at stake in our very first member challenge posted by gaye-belle. Three members participated and there was one winner who received the very first member challenge gold star!
You can begin a challenge right now and we’ve provided a handy guide to show you how.
NaNoWriMo Countdown: 37 days to go!
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), the inspiration for Kiwi Writers, is in its ninth year this year and we’re all gearing up in support and to participate. The NaNoWriMo site is in refresh mode but come October 1 sign ups will be open and we shall see the first peek at the fun new stuff the Office of Letters and Light have in store for us.
There will be a strong Kiwi Writers presence during NaNoWriMo and we’ll be moving the NaNoWriMo discussions from our forums to those on the NaNoWriMo site from October 1st. You can look forward to a Kiwi Writers topic on the Writing Groups forum, the preparation challenges promoted on the Reaching 50,000! forum and a strong presence of New Zealanders in the NZ Regional forum.
During October I will be posting four preparation challenges in our member challenge area. We can all thank cassie for suggesting these and getting me thinking. Discussion and encouragement around these challenges will be hosted in our Challenges forum. We’re trying to cook up another fun feature in time for NaNoWriMo that will allow Kiwi Writers to see the progress of fellow members.
Some of you may have noticed the beginning of some small but important changes to the site. We have begun removing the left hand menus from pages where they were no longer needed. This is most noticeable on the forums and the logon screens. Stay watching for more fun stuff!
