Happy 1st Birthday, Kiwi Writers!
Congratulations to the participants of the New Year Novella challenge. What a way to start the year!
Kiwi Writers is 1 year old! We send a big thanks to each and every one of our 253 members. Kiwi Writers has become a friendly, supportive place for writers to write and to have a great time doing it.
14 participants took the bull by the horns this January to write 20,000 words in the New Year Novella challenge. Over 90,000 words were written; a respectable effort for so early in the year. Stories of mystery, murder, the supernatural and fantasy have been written in the shorter for of the novella. Sign up now for the Waitangi Weekend Word Wace and, if you're game, Publish a Book 2008.
If the New Year Novella challenge was a bit too daunting the Waitangi Weekend Work Wace is a great way to ease you into writing for 2008. Write 7,500 words on any piece of fiction in 5 days, starting on Waitangi Day and ending the following Sunday.
11 brave writer souls have signed up for Publish a Book 2008. If you want to get a novel in the hands of an agent or editor then this challenge is for you. It doesn't matter where you're at in the process all are welcome. You can read how the participants are going in the Publish a Book 2008 forum.
With all of the challenges to generate raw, first draft stories the task of rewriting and editing just becomes more and more daunting. National Novel Editing Month challenges writers to take their raw material and rework it, rewrite it and edit it for 50 hours in March. Not only will you get the supportive community but articles on editing and a weekly podcast to keep you motivated.
We've started to tidy up the site a bit more for 2008 and the first thing to do was archive the 2007 challenge forums. You can see we now have brand spanking new forums for all the site challenges planned for the year.
