Madness and Frenzy
March started with madness and April continues with a frenzy.
10 members participated in March Fantasy Madness. Some dove into a new, undiscovered genre. Others were in familiar territory. All participants learned something new and strengthened their writing muscles with a goal of 10,000 words. Madscientist, lurgee, xengab, cassie and gaye-belle won the challenge and wrote over 50,000 fantasy words. It was great to see nzchris and nevermind also get words logged.
The 6,000 Word Easter Challenge came early this year and we celebrated with a special Easter banner. Even coming so quickly after March Fantasy Madness 8 members took the plunge. Lurgee managed to make it through the weekend and win the challenge with 6,061 words.
The wonderful people of The Office of Letters and Light who brought us National Novel Writing Month are bringing Script Frenzy to us in April! We're all very excited that Script Frenzy will no longer clash with the Southern Cross Novel Challenge and already 5 Kiwi Writer members have signed up. You can read more about their journey in the Script Frenzy thread. Script Frenzy has changed it's winning criteria from 20,000 words to 100 script formatted pages and 5,866 people have signed up. Participants from New Zealand are hanging out in the . Even if you're not up for the challenge there are some great Writer Resources, a useful Plot Machine and articles from people in the biz. Just like trying other genres stretches our writing muscles trying other mediums such as script writing can do the same.
The Southern Cross Novel Challenge is only two months away and here at Kiwi Writers HQ we have begun to plan all the great stuff we will have in store of you in June. Sign ups will open on May 1st and if you're already thinking about what you might write head over the the SoCNoC forum and join other Kiwi Writers doing the same.
