Our mission is to inspire more New Zealanders to read more; to promote reading in general, but particularly to represent and promote New Zealand writing and writers – our own artists, stories and points of view.
The New Zealand Society of Authors
The nature of the creative industries is such that all artists work independently, either under contract or not. It is therefore imperative that each area has a representative body to which artists can belong and turn to for support, networking and resources. The New Zealand Society of Authors (PEN NZ Inc) is that body for writers.
Booksellers New Zealand
A key focus of Booksellers New Zealand is book promotion, increasing the sales of books. We manage New Zealand's book awards, recognising excellence in writing and publishing; organise exciting nationwide events, promoting the enjoyment and importance of reading books; and actively develop opportunities for exposing books through television, radio and the print media.
Book Publishers Association of New Zealand
BPANZ is the trade association of book publishers and distributors in New Zealand. It represents the interests of the industry to government and other agencies; it serves as a professional organisation, providing a range of services including training; and it protects copyright and promotes trade by its members in domestic and export markets.
Romance Writers of New Zealand
Romance Writers of New Zealand Inc. is dedicated to promoting excellence in romance writing and the romance genre, helping writers become published and establish careers by providing networking, support, information and resources.
Science Fiction and Fantasy Association of New Zealand
SFFANZ aims to act as a national body separate from, but involved with, existing science fiction and fantasy clubs. As such, it hopes to be a major part of the structure of New Zealand fandom, enhancing liaisons between existing fan groups, providing support for events which transcend normal club structures (such as the annual national conventions), and providing a national voice for fandom.
New Zealand Book Month
NZ Book Month is a non-profit initiative that has the whole book industry behind it, from writers and publishers to bookshops and libraries. Quite simply, the idea is to get more of us reading New Zealand books.
New Zealand Writers' College
We are a team of professional writers who have been training writers online since 2005. Our writing courses were specifically designed to answer all the questions we had when we started out as writers in our particular writing industries. Our courses are perfect for aspirant writers wanting to broaden their skillset, or who want to launch themselves into a writing career or specialist branch of writing.
